Last Few Days To Book for Our National Optical Conference (NOC)

26 September 2022

NOC 2022 Leeds

Time is running out if you’re planning to attend next month’s NOC in Leeds.

Bookings for the conference, the first to be held face to face since 2019, will close 30 September. If you have not already secured your space, please do so before this date. The residential bookings are proving very popular with only 5 rooms remaining. If you want the convenience and luxury of staying in The Queens, you may wish to secure your space ASAP as once they are full, we can only offer day delegate spaces.

This year’s NOC will be discussing some of the key issues facing the sector including the transition to Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), Optometry First and the National Eye Care Recovery and Transformation Programme.

It’ll also be an opportunity to hear from our new leadership team – Chair Dr Joy Tweed and CEO Janice Foster.

LOCSU Chair, Dr Joy Tweed said:

“The agenda for our NOC next month is really coming together now. Thank you to everyone who has booked so far, we’re delighted so many of you will be coming together in Leeds. If you haven’t booked yet, please do take advantage of the free place we offer each LOC and make sure you don’t miss out on what I’m sure will be a significant and insightful conference.”

Guest Speaker

A new addition has been to our speaker line up. Joining us as guest speaker is Dr Rachel Morris, presenter of the ‘You are not a frog’ podcast.

Rachel is a GP turned Executive Coach who now specialises in resilience in the workplace for professionals in high stress jobs.

In her podcast she talks to friends, colleagues, and experts about how to help people master their own destiny to craft their jobs and careers so they can thrive in the most difficult of situations.

Key Speakers

Louisa Wickham, the first National Clinical Director of Ophthalmology, will make her debut speech to the sector at the NOC.

Louisa was appointed this year to develop provide national clinical leadership for the transformation of eye care, recognising the increased burden of disease and the need to develop new pathways to reduce the risk of irreversible visual loss.

As well as Louisa we’re delighted to welcome to the NOC, Professor Anton Emmanuel, who is head of NHS workforce race equality standard (WRES), and Catherine Thompson from the NHS West Yorkshire ICB.

Workshops

When booking for the conference we ask you to give your preferences for our workshops.

They’re filling up fast so make sure you book soon so you don’t miss out on the workshop of your choice.

Venue

The NOC takes place between 10-12 Oct at the Queens Hotel in Leeds city centre.

The Queens is a 4-star hotel which has been welcoming guests since 1937 – some of them rich and famous. A stay here means you’re following in the illustrious footsteps of Princess Grace of Monaco, Cary Grant, Nelson Mandela and Laurel & Hardy.

The hotel has instant access to Leeds railway station so travelling by train could be a convenient and sustainable way to get to the conference.
