LOCSU assisting NHSE with digital platform plans
21 February 2020
LOCSU is assisting NHS England to gather information from across the optical sector about the type of equipment currently in use and the level of engagement practices currently have with electronic referrals.
The results will feed into a proposal for a ‘national connectivity solution,’ with plans for a phased roll out to start in 2020.
Richard Whittington, LOCSU COO said “Poor connectivity has been holding optical practices back and we have been calling for this issue to be resolved for some time. We are pleased that NHSE has committed to a national solution and we are delighted to help gather information from practices via the network of LOCs”.
NHSE is keen for as many practices as possible who have received the survey to complete and return it, as more data will help them to build a stronger case. The survey includes questions on operating systems and broadband services currently used by practices.
Practices that have been contacted by NHS England through their LOC have been asked to complete and return the questionnaire to LOCSU by Friday 28 February by email.
