LOCSU’s Clinical Director To Present at European Optometry Conference
11 May 2023
LOCSU clinical director Zoe Richmond is to make a presentation to the European Academy of Optometry and Optics 2023 in Poland this week.
Zoe’s presentation in Poznan is called ‘Evaluation of a new care model “Optometry First” to help meet Ophthalmology demand’ and will share details of the work undertaken in Bassetlaw as one of the early adopters of an optometry first initiative, which enables people to access additional NHS eye care services closer to their home.
Her presentation will include the case for change and a demonstration of how primary eyecare can be better utilised to provide patient care on the high street, taking pressure off hospital eye services.
Zoe said:
“I’m delighted to be presenting at the European Academy of Optometry and Optics Conference. Primary eyecare can support system-wide eyecare transformation and fits well within this year’s theme “Eyecare in the changing world.”
The conference is jointly organised by the European Academy of Optometry and Polish Association of Optometry.
A record number of researchers and professionals will discuss, and share the latest research, education and clinical practice in optometry, optics and dispensing, and vision science.
