Dr Farah Jameel Joins LOCSU

5 February 2026

Dr Farah Jameel

LOCSU is pleased to share that Dr Farah Jameel has joined the team until the end of March 2026, providing expert support in commissioning and negotiation for LOCs across England.

Dr Jameel is a London-based GP, Chair of a Local Medical Committee (LMC) and a non-executive director across multiple boards bringing strong expertise in governance, assurance, risk management, and strategic planning.

She offers substantial national negotiating and system leadership experience, having played a senior leadership role for General Practice throughout the COVID-19 response and negotiating directly with NHS England on the 2019 five-year framework for GP contract reform. This landmark agreement underpinned delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan and secured significant, sustained national investment for General Practice, totalling £4.5 billion over the five-year period, alongside major contractual and structural reforms.

With a strong track record of working both nationally and locally across health systems, Farah has a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across the NHS and local authorities, building constructive relationships that support service development, commissioning opportunities, and system integration.

She is particularly skilled at translating national policy into practical, locally deliverable solutions – supporting LOCs to engage effectively with commissioners and position local optometry within evolving system priorities.

During her time at LOCSU, Farah will work closely with LOCs to help them navigate the changing NHS landscape, strengthen strategic positioning and support effective engagement with commissioners and system partners.
