Dry Eye Awareness Month

2 August 2023

Dry Eye Awareness Month

July was Dry Eye Awareness month.

Back in 2021/22 LOCSU and LOCs promoted links to an online survey seeking to gain an insight into perceptions of dry eye disease (DED), knowledge and confidence in diagnosis and management, and satisfaction with currently available treatment options. The published results can be found here:

Dry eye clinical practice patterns of UK optometrists – Contact Lens and Anterior Eye (contactlensjournal.com)

131 Optometrists from across the UK completed the survey, with a broad range of experience. The authors would like to pass on their thanks to all LOCs and survey participants.

Practitioners with a special interest in DED may be interested in subscribing to the International Society of Dacryology and  Dry Eye (ISD-DE) newsletter. Their Summer newsletter provides information about their 2024 meeting, to be held in London.
