LOCSU Levy Reduction Commencing 1 April 2025
31 March 2025
LOCSU is delighted to announce the reduction of the LOCSU levy from 0.5% to 0.4%.
This 20% reduction in the LOCSU levy recognises the financial pressures experienced by LOCs and local contractors, and the current financial driven NHS environment in which we all operate.
Careful consideration has been made to ensure that LOCSU services and support to LOCs will not be compromised through this reduction and that the reduced 0.4% levy is sustainable for three years (the duration of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, which is planned for launch in mid-April 2025).
LOCSU will continually look to optimise efficiencies and streamline services, utilising digitalisation as one lever, and will undertake annual income and expenditure reviews to ensure the LOCSU levy remains at the lowest possible level for LOCs.
Janice Foster, LOCSU CEO, said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank LOCs for their ongoing support. LOCSU are acutely aware of the current volatile eco-political landscape and trust this reduction in the LOCSU levy helps to support LOCs, contractors and performers as they work to maximise primary care optometry opportunities across England.
I look forward to launching our 2025-2028 Strategic Plan which the levy underpins. The Plan has been designed with agility in mind, ensuring we are all in a strong position to respond to the rapidly changing NHS systems. We will target extensive expertise and support, resourced through the lowest possible levy, to maximise value for LOCs.”
