Millie Fellows

We are extremely saddened to share the passing of Millie Fellows on Monday 15 September 2025.

Millie was known for her warmth, kindness and passion. Many of our LOC colleagues will have worked with or known Millie, and we know she will be deeply missed by all.

A dispensing optician and an experienced Practice Leader for over 25 years, Millie was actively involved with Oxfordshire LOC, first serving as Secretary and later Chair.  Millie joined the LOCSU Board in April 2023 as a non-executive director and was Chair of the LOCSU Remuneration Committee until her medical retirement in October 2024.  Her commitment to the profession knew no bounds and Millie also served as a General Optical Council Fitness to Practise panel member.

During her time at LOCSU, Millie was passionate about sharing the voice of LOCs and brought such energy and vibrancy as she strongly advocated for LOCs, dispensing  opticians, and primary care optometry. The LOCSU Board and wider team have many fond memories of Millie, remembering her as a shining light in the sector, full of enthusiasm and a great asset to the Board.

While she achieved a lot in her professional career, above all, Millie was an incredible person who cared deeply about others and was a good friend to many. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her husband and children, family, friends and colleagues.

ABDO recently shared a lovely tribute to Millie, which you can read here.
