Thank you to Sofia Fazal, LOCSU Board Director

Thank you to Sofia Fazal, LOCSU Board Director, for all her work over the last three years, as she steps down from her position. 

Sofia joined the Board in 2023 as one of four LOC representatives and has worked hard over the years to help represent the interests of LOCs and LOCSU.  

On joining the Board, Sofia rapidly became involved in Optometry First, bringing the LOC voice to a cross sector working group. More recently, Sofia supported the primary eyecare/LOCSU governance work and the National Forum, ensuring LOC views were raised. Sofia’s dedication as a strong advocate for LOCs, LOCSU and primary care optometry is recognised and appreciated. 

Joy Tweed, Chair at LOCSU, said: “I’d like to thank Sofia for serving on the LOCSU board. Along with the other directors recruited from LOCs, Sofia helped ensure that LOC needs and views were at the forefront of board discussions.  

“I’d like to thank Sofia for all her contributions and wish her all the best in the future.”
