NHSE Clinical lead for National Eye Care Restoration and Transformation Programme to speak at Virtual NOC

30 October 2020

We are pleased to confirm Claire Roberts, Joint Clinical Lead for the National Eye Care Restoration and Transformation Programme, NHS England and Improvement, as a speaker at the Virtual NOC on Wed 25 Nov at 6.30pm.

Longstanding capacity issues in hospital ophthalmology services have caused patients to experience delays to follow up care. The cessation of most routine eye care during lockdown and the ongoing reduction in capacity due to additional Covid-19 infection control procedures has exacerbated the problem.

Claire will outline work which is under way to restore and transform outpatient eye care services to address this issue on two levels. Initially the programme is focused on the restoration of services, which will be followed by work to deliver a radical transformation of eyecare services. This transformation will encompass primary, secondary and community care to reduce face to face outpatient attendances; driving the development of innovative, integrated, safe and sustainable ways of working.

We hope you will be able to join this virtual session to understand more about this exciting programme which will deliver real change across the sector, benefitting both patients and practitioners.
