Glaucoma Awareness Week: 30 June – 6 July 2026

2 July 2025

Glaucoma Awareness Week

Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible sight loss worldwide. During this week LOCSU is encouraging Local Optical Committees (LOCs) to raise awareness about glaucoma and highlight how Primary Care Optometry is well placed to deliver more glaucoma care,  enhancing support for people living with Glaucoma and helping to reduce the growing pressure on hospital services.

One of LOCSU’s most recent case studies demonstrates the effectiveness of a Glaucoma Enhanced Case Finding (ECF) Pathway in the Black Country. The data strongly supports commissioning Glaucoma ECF services to reduce unnecessary referrals, free up hospital resources, and shorten waiting lists.

You can read other LOCSU case studies here.

For any support or questions please get in touch with your LOC or LOCSU.
