LOCSU’s Leadership Skills for Optical Professionals is a 20-credit postgraduate module, and part of WOPEC’s MSc programme at Cardiff University. This could be a consideration for those eye care professionals who would like to work towards a postgraduate certificate or the MSc. It provides an understanding of current leadership models and theoretical approaches and will give delegates the background knowledge and practical skills that will equip them to provide leadership in the optical sector.

Open to all registered optometrists and dispensing opticians, this 20-credit course includes two in-person workshop days (held in London) and several online learning components. The content spans topics such as leadership models, team building, negotiation, and strategic planning. Assessment is divided between blog writing and formal academic essays.

The course will begin in March 2025. Further details, course structure and how to apply can be found here.
