Community-Based Glaucoma Monitoring Services

NHS Confederation have shared a case study looking at community-based glaucoma monitoring services in England.

The case study looks at addressing rising demand and capacity challenges in secondary care. Primary Eyecare Services pioneered a community-based Glaucoma Monitoring Service which NHS goals by shifting care from hospitals to neighbourhoods, embracing digital innovation and prioritising prevention.

In August, LOCSU completed a review of the LOCSU glaucoma pathway resources and published the new look pathways and supporting clinical pathway guidance. The resources were reviewed to ensure they adhered to applicable national guidance, supported the delivery of clinical best practice and continued to reflect the evidence base from local innovation and pathway improvement.
