Optical Lead and Board Departures
30 March 2023
The LOCSU team is saddened to be losing two of our expert optical leads, who both leave the team at the end of this month.
Max Halford, who has been working with LOCSU for several years and is well known to many LOCs especially in the south and east of England, is leaving to deliver increased capacity within ABDO, taking on a clinical leadership role.
Zoe Richmond, LOCSU’s Clinical Director said:
“Max will be sorely missed but in his new role he’ll continue to work closely with the LOCSU team and offer support to dispensing colleagues on LOCs”
Julia Maiden, an optical lead with considerable LOC and service implementation experience is also leaving LOCSU to pursue personal interests and family life. Julia will continue her great work as an experienced LOC chair in the northwest and will remain a close friend to LOCSU and the LOCs in her region.
Zoe added:
“The optical lead team will miss Julia greatly, she never shied away from offering advice and support to her team members”.
Three LOCSU Board members are also stepping down this month.
Abi Page, LOC representative for the London region; Charles Bill, LOC Representative for South region; and Matthew Jinkinson, LOC Representative for North region.
Dr Joy Tweed, Chair of the LOCSU board said:
“I’d like to thank Abi, Charles, and Matt for their many years of service and dedication to LOCSU and our LOCs. They have all played an important role in helping to raise the profile of local primary eye care services during a challenging period.”
Details of our new board members will be announced shortly following a recruitment process which has been taking place over the past few weeks.
