Agenda
9.30am: Registration
10.30am – 11.30am: Plenary 1 – NHS 10 Year Plan: Fit for Future
Panel and peer discussions for all delegates on the implications and opportunities for primary care optometry from the 10 Year plan, exploring the resulting priorities for LOCs.
11.30am – 1pm: Workshop A: LOCs Leadership & Influence
Delegates can choose one of the following three workshops to attend.
- Workshop 1. Leadership & Influence: Strengthening governance and operations in LOCs
This practical and interactive workshop is designed to help LOCs strengthen their governance, strategy, and team leadership.
Building on previous peer-to-peer learning at NOC25, this session will explore real-world scenarios across the themes of people, strategy, and governance. You’ll work in groups to share top tips, apply LOCSU tools and identify what works and what’s missing. The workshop will also provide opportunities to explore the new governance framework, comprised of the model constitution, template policies and forms.
Whether you’re a chair, officer or lead, this session will help you think strategically about your role, influence others effectively, and build a resilient, inclusive LOC. You’ll leave with practical takeaways and help shape future LOCSU support.
- Workshop 2. Unlocking Impact: Overcoming CPD and Comms Challenges
This interactive workshop is designed for comms and CPD leads to discuss common challenges faced by CPD or comms leads, share best practice and co-design the future of LOCSU peer support forums.
Ideal for LOC secretaries, comms leads and CPD leads who want to strengthen their impact, this session aims to give delegates new ideas and solutions for your LOC and encourages networking with others in similar roles.
- Workshop 3: Securing the Future of Glaucoma Care: LOC Strategies & Commissioning Insights
This interactive workshop will focus on glaucoma services, exploring commissioning tools, pathway development, and practical LOC-led strategies for securing and sustaining enhanced services.
Hear directly from LOCs that have successfully introduced new services, defended existing ones under threat, or adapted effectively following service loss.
Through real-world examples and shared insights, the session will identify gaps in current support resources and gather LOC perspectives on future needs to inform national planning and commissioning.
2 – 3.30pm: Workshop B: LOC Knowledge and Skills
Delegates can choose one of the following three workshops to attend.
- Workshop 1. Knowledge & Skills: Strengthening leadership through practice and practical ‘know-how’
This interactive workshop is designed to help LOC members build confidence and capability in their roles. Through peer learning and group work, you’ll develop interpersonal skills for effective chairing and team leadership. You’ll also gain essential knowledge on financial and information governance to help improve operational effectiveness.
Whether you’re new to your role or looking to refresh your skills, this session offers practical tools and insights to help you lead with clarity, confidence, and compliance.
- Workshop 2. End-to-End CPD, integrating Communications for Stronger Engagement
This engaging workshop, designed for any LOC member who is involved in delivering CPD or comms, walks delegates through running CPD events. The session considers how to craft high-quality CPD content, navigate the approval process, and use comms to maximise attendance and impact.
The workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to build confidence, share ideas, and take their LOC’s CPD and comms offering to the next level.
- Workshop 3. Creating the Opportunities: Advocacy, Engagement & the Future of Primary Care Optometry
As the health landscape evolves – with neighbourhood teams, public health priorities, and integrated care systems reshaping delivery – where do LOCs fit into the new world?
This interactive session will explore how LOCs can create opportunities through effective advocacy and strategic stakeholder engagement. Drawing on real experiences and practical techniques, we’ll examine how LOCs can influence commissioning, build partnerships, and contribute to a shared long-term vision for embedding primary care optometry across England.
3.30 – 4pm: Plenary 2: LOCSU in The Future
