Book Now for LOC Induction Course
2 May 2023
The second LOC induction course of the year gets underway early next month.
Focusing on specific LOC topics and activities the course is designed to support delegates to become effective LOC members quickly.
The course is also structured so that participants can work through the content in their own time, as the online platform allows for 24/7 access.
LOCSU’s Digital Learning Support Officer, Simone Mason said:
“The course consists of weekly activities, which include a variety of learning materials to cater for all learning styles such as PowerPoint presentations, documents to read, podcasts to listen to, videos to watch, quizzes and surveys.
“Course participants may have tasks to research and report back to the group and can add comments and images to a discussion forum. There is even a Facebook-style “community” where the group get to know each other and can ‘like’ a post and add comments to make each other feel welcome and part of a collaborative group.”
Feedback from January’s course has been positive.
Haneen from Central Mersey LOC said:
“I feel I have grown in confidence. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I feel with the knowledge I have gained, I can approach things with better understanding. I feel I will be able to contribute better at the LOC meetings, but also understand more what is being discussed. I will be taking the ‘jargon buster’ to meetings with me so that I can understand all the acronyms mentioned.”
Hannah from Hampshire LOC said:
“This course has given me a good overall picture of the LOC, the NHS and LOCSU and the different partnerships and bodies. It was good to have discussions and hear what other LOCs members are up to. Overall – I will be able to be more confident starting my role within Hampshire LOC.”
The deadline for registration for the next course is 5 June with the start of the course a week later on 12 June. Full details are here.
In the pipeline – for those LOC Induction Alumni who are looking for the next step – LOCSU are working on a suite of resources to be released over the next 12 months – including some practical workshops at NOC 2023.
