‘Hairy Biker’ Talks to LOCSU About the Importance of Sight Tests

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness, but it doesn’t have to be.
In a new podcast LOCSU CEO Janice Foster and Clinical Director Zoe Richmond speak to one half of ‘The Hairy Bikers’ Dave Myers about the importance of regular sight tests.
Dave was diagnosed with Glaucoma during a routine sight test around twenty years ago.
Zoe said:
“It’s wonderful to hear Dave talk about his positive experience, his proactive approach to his eye health and sight over the years has certainly helped protect his sight but it’s the opportunistic finding during a sight test by his optometrist that started the journey.
“Glaucoma is a common condition, but we shouldn’t underestimate its complexity. Glaucoma can lead to loss of vision if not detected and treated in a timely manner; early identification is important. Most people don’t experience any symptoms and are identified through a sight test, which is why I’d urge anyone who hasn’t had a sight test in the last two years to consider booking one.”
