#LookingAfterYouToo: Coaching support for primary care staff

2 October 2020

As we enter Autumn and approach Winter continuing to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, the NHS has recognised that staff may be finding the situation hard to deal with and feeling overwhelmed.

The #Lookingafteryoutoo coaching initiative was introduced in April as a direct response to Covid. It’s a free coaching offer for all staff working in primary care services (clinical and non-clinical) in recognition of the unprecedented challenges they have faced throughout the pandemic.

The NHS wants to ensure staff feel supported to maintain psychological wellbeing and resilience during this time by having access to individually tailored coaching support. It’s a space for staff to offload the demands of whatever they are experiencing and be supported in developing practical strategies for dealing with this, including:

  • process experiences
  • develop coping skills
  • deal with difficult conversations

LOCSU urges LOCs to ensure their members are aware of this service.

It is available 7 days a week: 8:00am – 10:00pm Monday to Friday and 10:00am – 6:00pm Saturday and Sunday and slots can be pre-booked with experienced coaches at a convenient time. Coaching sessions will continue until at least March 2021.
